Volunteering

We are looking for qualified volunteers with a variety of specializations who are ready to serve the Holy Land Association in various capacities (sanctuaries, parishes, management, schools, etc). We need help in the following areas: education, social help, management, secretarial duties, information technology, maintenance, security, and sanitation.

Given the unique situation in the Holy Land, we can only consider a limited number of applications, depending on need. Applicants are expected to be able to empathize with people from other faiths, cultures, and traditions and to adapt to unusual circumstances. All tasks, without exception, require willingness to participate actively and to see their duties as a form of service to the Holy Land. Voluntary service at the Custody of the Holy Land should not be considered nothing more than a job; it should be seen as an opportunity to have a special faith-relevant experience despite the requirements of daily work. Living in the Holy Land, serving others, and participating in prayers at the Holy Places should give you the opportunity to grow in your faith.

Language Skills

Required: English or Italian. Knowledge of Arabic, Hebrew, Spanish, German and/or French would be an asset.

Duration

Generally, 3 months. We would be happy to have you work with us for a longer period, but we will not decide whether to extend your stay until you have worked with us for 2 months.

Requirements/Conditions

You must be available to work full-time.
There is no monetary compensation.
You are responsible for your own travel and insurance costs.
Room and board are provided by the custody.
Vacation days and special arrangements are to be discussed with your supervisor.
