Exposition numérique de la Bibliothèque générale de la Custodie sur le père Augustin Arce

Depuis quelques jours nous pouvons trouver en ligne une nouvelle exposition numérique de la Bibliothèque générale de la Custodie de Terre Sainte : « Raconter l’histoire. Père Agustín Arce bibliothécaire en Terre Sainte« , née d’une collaboration entre la Custodie de Terre Sainte et le CRELEB – Centre européen de recherche Livre, Édition Bibliothèque, Université Cattolica – et coordonnée par le directeur de la Bibliothèque Lionel Goh avec le soutien de l’Association pro Terra Sancta avec le projet “Livres, ponts de paix”. L’exposition, publiée « à l’occasion de la nomination du nouveau Custode de terre Sainte, le père Francesco Patton », retrace l’histoire du franciscain Augustin Arce (1884 -1984), un frère de Jérusalem. Une figure importante, qui combine le dévouement profond à la vocation pastorale avec l’amour pour l’histoire et la culture de la Terre Sainte. «Ce frère, calme et  méthodique- comme on peut lire dans le communiqué-  ne fut pas seulement un érudit brillant, mais aussi un homme cordial, capable de s’étonner toujours »et de chanter joyeux Asì me gusta! Así me gusta! devant Jérusalem couverte de neige.

Le père Arce, espagnol, arrive en Terre Sainte en 1922. Il commence son service au Caire, puis bibliothécaire dans le couvent de Nazareth, arrive enfin à Jérusalem en 1924 où il devient professeur auprès du couvent de Saint- Sauveur. Ici il passe des périodes plus ou moins longues en exerçant de diverses tâches. En 1936 il devient le bibliothécaire de la Bibliothèque Centrale de la Custodie, qu’il enrichit beaucoup.

L’exposition est disponible en ligne sur le site Web de la Bibliothèque de la Custodie, en italien et en espagnol. Elle est composée de quatorze panneaux accompagnés d’une cinquantaine photos et illustrations précieuses de l’archive.

It is with a great pleasure that we send you the Annual Report of ATS pro Terra Sancta, the NGO supporting the Franciscan friars of the Custody of the Holy Land.

We wish to share with you the results achieved and the future objectives, thus involving you in the work done, a work that, also thank to you, supports the Christian communities and the preservation of the Holy Places.

Leafing through the Annual Report of 2015 you can find all the information about our organization (the mission, the structure and the internal organization), the areas of intervention and the priorities (Preservation and development, Education and support and Emergency relief in the Middle East), the places and the beneficiaries of our projects, the perspectives and the future objectives.

We will be able to continue along this road only with your friendship and your help which contribute generously to the implementation of our projects.

We ask you to continue to be at our side supporting the work carried out by the Franciscan friars in order to protect the stones of the memory and to provide aid to the “living stones”: the Christian communities and people in need. This is a simple and a practical way of spreading the message of hope that the Holy Places desire to transmit to people’s hearts.
