Jerusalem: a number of youngsters actively involved with the Custody of the Holy Land

Giacomo Pizzi21 February 2012

For the second year in a row ATS pro Terra Sancta, in cooperation with the University of Bari “Aldo Moro”, is adding to its staff four young people who are performing their Civilian Service Abroad.

The youths, who come from all parts of Italy, will be involved in projects of the Custody of the Holy Land, in particular those dealing with history and culture: studies, archiving and cataloguing of materials in order to enhance the accessibility of the libraries, the museum, the Holy Places and archaeological sites serving pilgrims and visitors to the Holy Land. They will also be involved in fundraising campaigns and in carrying out programs aimed at raising awareness of the cultural heritage that is present here.

The tasks these young people will be expected to carry out are demanding ones, eleven months of living abroad in a new environment, within a political and social context very much different from that to which they are accustomed. It will undoubtedly prove to be a valuable and enriching experience for them, made all the more intense because it will be lived in the land where Jesus lived.

A cordial welcome to our new friends, from all of the staff of ATS pro Terra Sancta.
