Music in the Holy City: a new series of organ concerts in Jerusalem, organized by the Magnificat Institute

Giacomo Pizzi5 October 2011

We remind all music lovers and friends of the Magnificat Institute of Jerusalem, the music school of the Custody of the Holy Land whose activities have been supported for a number of years by ATS pro Terra Sancta, that tomorrow evening 6 October begins the annual series of “Organ Concerts” organized by the Magnificat Institute in the Holy City of Jerusalem.

Tomorrow and each Thursday throughout October, at 18.00 in St. Saviour’s Church in Jerusalem, experienced international concert performers will play alongside young musicians at the very beginning of their careers.

The inaugural concert will be performed by Haig Aram Vosgueritchian, who was born in Jerusalem and grew up musically at the Magnificat. Haig began his piano and organ studies with Father Armando Pierucci, founder and director of the Magnificat Institute and organist at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. He subsequently undertook further studies at the Vicenza Conservatory of Music in Italy and then returned to Jerusalem to teach music at the Magnificat and the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum.
