Spanish children are organizing charitable activities to support the Syrian people

At Christmas the children from four Catalan schools made greeting cards and donated the proceeds from their sale to needy people in Bethlehem. Now, once again under the guidance of the “Salam Betlem” group of Friends of the Holy Land, they are carrying out a special fundraising project to help deal with the emergency in Syria. This is just one of the many initiatives in response to the appeal launched by the Custos of the Holy Land, fra Pierbattista Pizzaballa, with individuals and groups acting in a creative manner to provide their own contribution towards confronting this emergency.

On Saturday 31 March and, again, on the weekend of 21/22 April, there will be a sale of used books as well as of bookmarks made by the children of the elementary schools participating in the initiative. The funds collected will be sent to the Syrian people, at this particularly critical and painful juncture, through ATS pro Terra Sancta, who will ensure that the funds arrive to the Syrian cities in which there is a Franciscan presence.
