Hope for Syria: work carried out in support of the Syrian population in difficulty

Syria ATS pro Terra SanctaThe humanitarian crisis continues in Syria; violence is raging and many people have had to flee their towns and cities. An interview with Monsignor Mario Zenari, papal nuncio in Damascus, provides an overview of the situation, and the role and consequences of the conflict for Christians in Syria on Terrasanta.net.

However, aid work carried out by ATS pro Terra Sancta and the Custody of the Holy Land in support of the Syrian population continues. Four reception centres in the cities of Damascus, Aleppo, Latakia and Kanye are dealing with the evacuee emergency, offering a place to sleep to approximately 200 people and providing for the basic needs (food, clothes, medicine) of 400 families every day.

Moreover, ATS pro Terra Sancta’s work helps approximately 50 families every month to find alternative housing and repair or rebuild their homes.

Special care is given to the weakest in the population in this time of emergency: children, pregnant women, mothers with young children, those providing for their families, people with disabilities, elderly people and widows.
