Tripoli, an ancient Crusader stronghold located in northern Lebanon, is now a city marked by poverty and unemployment and for many the only source of income is remittances from relatives from abroad.
Among the buildings of the port district rises the Franciscan convent, which the inhabitants now call “the oasis of Al-Mina.” It is a beautiful and orderly place where everyone can feel welcome: sport and music become the common language that allows Christians and Muslims to meet and dialogue, and the medical dispensary has become a vital point of reference for those in need. From the distribution of hard-to-find medicines to the provision of free medical check-ups, we help people who cannot afford the costs of public or private healthcare.
A home for everyone
Since 2017, thanks to the support of Pro Terra Sancta, the Convent of Al-Mina has seen major renovations and the start of new activities, transforming itself into a vital center for the community. Find out more in the map below!
