INAUGURATION OF THE NEW SITE OF THE FRANCISCAN MEDIA CENTER, YET ONE MORE WAY OF BRINGING THE HOLY LAND TO THE FAR CORNERS OF THE WORLD

Giacomo Pizzi31 March 2012

Telling the story of the Holy Land through pictures, in order to give voice and visibility to the Mother Church of Jerusalem, local Christians and the Holy Places.

As from today, at the addresses www.fmc-terrasanta.org, the new site of the Franciscan Media Center (FMC), the television and multimedia center of the Custody of the Holy Land, is online. The site provides historical, cultural, human and spiritual images of the Land of Jesus. In order to tell, in the midst of a tumultuous daily chronicle that speaks only of fear, division and conflict,… “an altogether different story”.

Through the new Internet site, which can be consulted in six languages (Italian, Portuguese, English, French, Spanish and soon Arabic), the FMC will become even closer to the many Christians, and others, who wish to know about, follow and stay in touch with the Land of Jesus.

On this website, users will also be able to keep abreast of what is going on in the Holy Land via Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Archaeology, news, culture, events, pilgrimages, ecumenism, interreligious dialogue, faith… Many are the subjects recounted on  videonews – published daily on the new site – and which also make up the Terra Santa News”, the by now well-known weekly news program broadcast in various languages by the most important Catholic stations throughout the world.

News reports, interviews, documentaries and columns on spirituality, enhanced by pictures and special contents, can now be found on the site of the Franciscan Media Center.

The Center, born in 2008 and whose headquarters are in the New City of Jerusalem, is also able to offer direct transmissions of celebrations from the most important Sanctuaries in the Holy Land. Retransmitted by numerous television stations, the live broadcasts of liturgies from the Holy Places can now also be seen via video streaming on the new website.

The FMC was a courageous choice of the Custody of the Holy Land, a necessary and imperative challenge which had to be undertaken in order that the Holy Places of salvation with all of their historical, cultural, human and spiritual vitality can continue to arrive to the far corners of the world. And from today, there is an additional means for achieving this.
