The Creativity of Good: A Thank You from Director Tommaso Saltini

Amidst the wounds of the Middle East, Director Tommaso Saltini reflects on the mission of Pro Terra Sancta: a message of gratitude and a vision where charity becomes the tool to build a concrete peace.

Dear friends and supporters of Pro Terra Sancta,

The fragility characterizing the entire Eastern Mediterranean region makes your help in supporting the children and the poorest families of the Holy Land even more precious. To you goes all our gratitude, and that of the many beneficiaries reached by our various social, educational, and cultural projects.

Unfortunately, the year 2025 was also marked by constant war in Gaza and the West Bank, and for long periods also in Syria and Lebanon, where attacks and violence continue to be recorded.

The individual person, families, and small communities are at the heart of our work. Your generosity has become fruitful in the numerous projects that Pro Terra Sancta has been able to carry out, and it has been transformed into consolation for many brothers in need.

The task of Pro Terra Sancta aims to be the promotion of a free sharing of resources among families, religious communities, charitable works, schools, universities, and businesses. Together with you, we support those who organize themselves to do good; we promote creativity and autonomy. We need a new way of being together, one that can generate communion between those who can provide support and those in need of help, aware that we are all in need of both receiving and giving.

Saint Francis and the Franciscan friars have always sought throughout history to direct wealth toward the health and education of the poor, and to support the creativity of those among the "least" who were able to produce and distribute primary goods and services, so they would no longer be a burden to society. Thus, the concept of fraternity was born, with the desire to overcome the exclusive logic of "doing for one's own family or kin," moving toward "doing for a more just society," reaching everyone without barriers or distinctions.

For this reason, our help seeks to reach everyone, without distinction of ethnic or religious affiliation, and without erasing differences but rather valuing them.

The poor do not represent a problem but a resource; need demands new creative, effective, and sustainable responses.

One gives in order to receive, and one exercises charity to unite humanity in peace.

From this momentum and desire, our projects are born—projects that all of you support with generosity and creativity.

Thank you!
