“Work in progress” in the guesthouse at Sabastiya
The works to expand the Mosaic Center Jericho's guesthouse in the village of Sabastiya are continuing, thanks to the support of Belgian Development Cooperation. The new facility will include two bedrooms, already completed, plus three more that will be ready in a few months thanks to to support of ATS pro Terra Sancta, as well as a kitchen for the use of guests. Upon the completion of the works there will be ten beds. The aim of the works, carried out using local labor, is to maintain and enhance the characteristics of the typical local architecture, while at the same time modernizing the facility. The attention given to the smallest detail has made the rooms cozy and welcoming, as everything has been designed in order to blend in with the surrounding environment and to offer a simple stay in contact with the reality of the village. For example, at breakfast guests can enjoy the delicious jams, made by the women of the village, with fruits from the surrounding countryside. The continued expansion of the guesthouse underscores the desire to increase the numbers of pilgrims and visitors to this splendid village, rich in history and in artistic and archaeological beauty, allowing them to have direct contact with the young people, the women and the inhabitants involved in the project.
