WIP work in progress

Lebanon
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES
WORK IN PROGRESS is a project that originated in Lebanon, a country that has been ravaged by an unprecedented economic, political, and social crisis. Its primary objective is to actively support the revival of the local economy by providing practical professional training to a group of young entrepreneurs.

Victims of a particularly dramatic economic context, young Lebanese urgently need a job, financial instruments to start their business and training to make them work. The aim of the project is to support the development of businesses in Lebanon by creating a business start-up competition with the aim of providing training courses and non-repayable financing for value propositions.
The goal is to create a virtuous system that, over the years, can guarantee the sustainability of the project. The beneficiaries will be 30 young Lebanese between 20 and 30 years old who will present valuable ideas to be financed.

Following the selection, the projects will be divided into two categories:

  • Entrepreneurial impact: This category includes simple businesses that have a strong impact. For example, it considerably increases the income of the family or activities that focus on social impact (after-school activities, elderly care activities, etc.). This category could include, and must include, some project involving people with special needs.
  • Financial impact: This category includes start-ups with economic sustainability and potential for growth and job creation.

The training course will last 3 months and includes sessions on life skills and an overview of knowledge in the business environment. It offers concepts and tools to successfully start and run a business. Each unit guides the participants in the development of a specific component of their business project in order to effectively implement what they have learned.

The selected beneficiaries will attend together a life skills course (2 weeks) and then will be divided into two groups to attend the corporate business course (about 10 weeks) which will be designed according to what the participants need. At the end, each candidate will be able to put into practice what they have learned.
