The situation in Syria is worsening, and the humanitarian emergency continues

Giacomo Pizzi10 January 2013

Unfortunately the news arriving from Syria is not at all encouraging, as according to estimates provided by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights 60,000 people have been killed since 15 March 2011. Since July 2012 there have been 5,000 victims per month, more than 160 per day. The humanitarian emergency continues and is currently aggravated by climate conditions, characterized by floods and snowstorms.

The Franciscan friars present in Syria, in both the large towns and the villages in the north, are continuing to provide assistance to the population, supporting the families who have remained in the country to overcome this period of suffering and loss of their loved ones.

Please continue to provide your support in this emergency, aiding the friars of the Custody of the Holy Land in this country! All donations will be immediately forwarded to Syria and will help to deal with the urgent needs of the population, in particular those who are most vulnerable.
