Bethlehem is also for the elderly: an accompanied trip

Giacomo Pizzi25 October 2011

This past week the elderly women living in the rest home managed by the Società Antoniana of Bethlehem received a big present. Through its collaboration with the Women’s Antonian Branch, ATS pro Terra Sancta was able to make possible an excursion to a community center at Beit Sahour, a village near Bethlehem.

The 15 elderly women who participated in the initiative returned full of enthusiasm about the afternoon they had passed in the open air, in the company of volunteers and friends. One of them, M., who lives at the Antonian Charitable Society, offered the following comment: “This was the first time in my 11 years of residence that the Antonian Charitable Society has organized a trip outside of the walls of the Home. I have never passed such a beautiful afternoon since I have been here, and we were even able to go by intercity bus!

Sister Immacolata, the Mother Superior of the Home, was also struck by the enthusiasm that was easily read on the faces of the elderly women who with such joy had responded to the call to undertake the excursion.

In fact it takes very little to make these elderly ladies happy, and with your aid ATS pro Terra Sancta will continue to support the elderly who live alone in Bethlehem and in rest homes in the area.
