Palestinian social workers in Italy thanks to support from ATS pro Terra Sancta

Three Bethlehem social workers are going on a 10-day study tour in Italy to improve their working skills and to get to see at close hand a different reality. They will depart on 19 July as part of the project “Travel for retraining and educational exchange in Italy” promoted by ATS pro Terra Sancta in partnership with Consorzio Icaro di Foggia. The aim is to visit different types of social work in Italy, thereby facilitating an interchange of experiences between Palestinian and Italian professionals. The three Palestinians will visit ten social work centers in three different Italian regions: Veneto, the Marches and Puglia.

The trip will aid the three participants with their work in Palestine, where the knowledge acquired and the stimulus they receive will enable them to function more effectively in their current work setting, and will also facilitate the implementation of new projects with a social orientation.

The situation in Palestine presents problems that are in many ways much more serious than those found in Italy and Europe, and the experience in Italy is intended to provide the Palestinians with new methods and innovative means for confronting these problems.
